The Polo
The polo at Sandbanks (the British Beach Polo Championships) is the largest beach polo event in the world. When polo is played in an enclosed arena it has been referred to as ‘Ice Hockey on Horse Back’.
The polo ponies love the sand – they can accelerate, turn on a sixpence and stop in a heartbeat. The thrill and excitement of horses galloping on the sand, the English Channel as a backdrop, sipping champagne amongst glamorous company – it’s an intoxicating mix.
When the ponies have left for the stables, catch the players partying into the night alongside the sponsors and spectators.
‘The matches are fast and furious, and the extra-large orange ball, designed not to get lost in the sand, flies around at speeds of up to 100mph.’

Boogie on the Beach
A day of Sandpolo followed by a night of Soul, Motown and Disco, featuring internationally acclaimed artists, on the UK’s most famous beach.
The show begins with The Voice star, Jaz Ellington, bringing with him his live band ‘House of Ellington’ to get the party started.
Legendary act The Real Thing, famous for their 1976 smash hit ‘You To Me Are Everything’ will keep the party moving, before Craig Charles (BBC Radio) brings his Funk and Soul Club to finish the night off in great fashion!
It’s time to Boogie on the Beach…

ENCORE beach party
The final day of adrenaline fueled polo and parties at Sandbanks. Watch polo on the sand and dance the night away at the Encore Beach Party.
As the poster suggests, guests can expect a decade-hopping, genre-defying night of entertainment to celebrate the closing of Sandpolo weekend in style!
The night is headlined by the 14-piece ‘Ibiza Classics Orchestra’, which is fronted by the award-winning London-based composer, Okiem, with a rip-roaring orchestral show featuring the best Ibizan dance music from across the ages.
The supporting cast sees Soul and Funk band, Wonderband, alongside DJ Jazzie B OBE, famous for being a founding member of British Soul legends, SOUL II SOUL. Expect back to back party hits, all night!
